Feed the Forest
ReleasedI started working with Indoor Sunglasses and this is the first attempt at collaboration. The three of us decided to join Alchemy Jam #7 to see if we can work together and to make a game where growing plants is the core mechanic. Our later planned games will include lots of nature and growing, so essentially this is us also testing out our later game ideas.
Initially we went for a tower-defense game where you move around as a snail, and where you go - trees get planted. The trees would then be attacked by various creatures, however, the trees could also fight back.
Once we added fruit mechanic (trees produce stuff) we started to pivot more towards an incremental game as it felt really good to collect them. The switch was a good choice, incremental genre works really well with the growing mechanic we’ve made, and it feels really juicy to see thousands of objects appear and get collected by the player.
The game is quite addictive even after spending some time (3+ weeks) developing.
